At Oak Tree Devanning we’re buzzing about the City of Sails for a different reason – our long-awaited return!
There’s always plenty of buzz around Auckland, whether it’s at cafes where movers and shakers sip their lattes or on a big night at Eden Park. At Oak Tree Devanning we’re buzzing about the City of Sails for a different reason – our long-awaited return!
We recently took on a job in Auckland for the first time in four years – a major milestone we're delighted to share!
Overseen by Oak Tree operations coordinator Deane Rose, a group of keen staff were recruited well in advance of the mid-July start date which involved half a dozen containers being unloaded for Bidfood, which is also one of our partner employers. It's a big deal for Oak Tree, which left the Auckland market in 2019.
Deane says while it's early days, it was an exciting start that would be helped by Oak Tree's still solid industry reputation in Auckland. "At this stage it's to keep this customer happy and the guys up there employed."
Oak Tree operations manager Jamie Dale says the ongoing development of the Oak Tree app, ProDevan, had made taking on the Auckland job far easier in terms of streamlining the administrative side of the business. "It's a huge reason we can now go back up to Auckland. Right now we don't have to have an office and someone permanently in Auckland to run the show up there."
Discussions are being had with several potential customers, which are progressing well. Jamie says while Auckland does have geographical challenges – Bidfood is based on the North Shore – there's confidence more work will come from the region so staff can be retained and given regular work. "I don't think we'll have too much trouble getting work in other areas of Auckland, but we're focusing on one area at a time."
