In early April Pathway Affordable Housing marked a very special milestone - a year since the first tenants moved into our four homes at 150 Pages Rd.

The occasion was celebrated with a community morning tea at the site which featured a rather delicious looking cake baked by Pathway Affordable Housing tenancy and wellbeing manager, Emma Wallis.

It doubled as an opportunity for our tenants to give their feedback - positive or negative - about their experience living at our properties thus far.

Emma believed it was important to get their views, as they could help form the shape the service takes going forward.

“We are keen to hear from them about what works and what doesn’t, or what could be done better in terms of our future planning.’’

She says providing people living on the margins of society with housing and offering them full support was an essential part of helping them overcome what can be a huge barrier many of us take for granted - securing a warm, safe home.

They are grateful to be in the houses. I think they acknowledge the houses they have are pretty good compared to a lot of the others that are out there.

Meanwhile, construction has started on our second housing development at 75 Pages Rd which features three two-bedroom houses and is expected to be completed in November.

The additional income generated from these new properties will benefit the group as a whole, especially the families who will tenant them, by covering costs associated with maintenance and in other areas.

It is exciting to see these long-held plans for our housing arm coming to fruition.

With affordable accommodation still in high demand, Pathway, as a social housing provider, is doing what it can to help ease the burden placed on many vulnerable families in society, oftentimes through no fault of their own.

Well done team, keep up the inspirational work!
