In February of 2000, when Alloyfold was just a startup operation running out of a warehouse in Hornby, our small team ventured over to Anaheim, California, to check out the American Rental Association (ARA) show. As the name suggests, the ARA show includes everything rental-based, from party and event equipment to heavy machinery, everything's covered.
It was an overwhelming experience for the team at the time and opened up a huge new rental market for Alloyfold. Since then, Alloyfold has maintained a consistent presence at nearly every ARA show. This January marked our 25th year as our team travelled to Las Vegas to showcase our products, build relationships, and engage with potential clients alongside our USA-based associates.
"This year was positive - we sold more than last year, though we fell short of our best show ever," notes Alloyfold General Manager Chris Colenso. "Our core products performed well, and tables did better than last year. Having our biggest team ever at the show, including Wendell our Logistics Executive who has attended for 21 years, made this year particularly meaningful."
In 25 years, however, a lot has changed in the industry and while that comes with new opportunities, it also comes with challenges for Alloyfold.
"The challenge is that as original customers age out and their children take over businesses, we're seeing new ways of doing business. It's forcing us to evolve our approach. America remains a crucial market for us, but how we operate there needs to adapt to these changing dynamics."
All in all, this year's show was beneficial for Alloyfold, bringing in several good sales and further establishing ourselves in the American market as providers of both chairs and tables too. Despite the changes in the industry, we're excited to see how the ARA continues to evolve for us in the coming years.
